"My love of jewellery and rough-cut gems comes from my childhood," says Sushilla.
"My father was an Indian diplomat work for the UN, and he took us with him when he travelled in Africa. It was there that I first saw stones in their unpolished state."

These exotic travels have also had an impact on the decoration of her home. Block-printed bed quilts are found on wooden chests and seats, while richly embroidered and sequinned hangings line the walls of the entrance hall.
